Subhash Ghai, would have you believe after all these years that the title ‘Showman’ was thrust on him and he has never gone out to make blockbusters. The veteran filmmaker was in Bangalore to promote his latest production.Ghai said, “The title showman was a creation of the media. It was thrust upon me. I have always played an underdog and my intention has always been to make humble films.” However, he also added that his next film as director will be a “mass masala” film.
“It will be a mass masala film with both stars and new talent.
The idea is to promote talent from my institute. The lead actor Saahil Mehta of my latest production is a product of my institute and is immensely talented and I have already signed him on for my next,” he says. Ghai says that the whole idea of his institute is to have trained professionals in all aspects of filmmaking and adds that the style of communication in the industry has changed. “In the 70’s and 80’s there was no Facebook or Twitter. Now everybody knows everything and therefore the need to have professionals has never been more important,” he reflects.
